Representatives of local groups smile as they accept
checks from DCCF in a past round of grants.
The Davis Food Co-op and the Twin Pines Cooperative
Foundation are proud of the assitance to vital groups in our
community through grants from the Davis Co-operative Community Fund.
Over $11,000 in grants have been awarded to organizations based in
Davis or serving Yolo County, and dedicated to working on issues in
agriculture, food and hunger, community and social problems or the
environment.
2008 Community Fund Grant Applications
have all been received -- the deadline for applications was Friday,
April 11, 2008 at 5 PM. Organizations interested in applying for awards
from the Fund must meet a few requirements, such 501(c)3 status with
the Internal Revenue Service, or incorporation as a cooperative. Grants
will be awarded in the spring and announced at the Co-op Annual Member
Meeting at the Davis Farmers Market in Central Park, Wednesday May 21. For more details, contact Doug Walter,

2007 grant recipients were
announced at the Annual Membership Meeting of the Davis Food Co-op,
held May 23 at Central Park, Davis during the Davis Farmers' Market
Picnic in the Park. Grants were awarded to:
- Citizens Who Care -- for supplies for art therapy sessions
- Davis Musical Theatre Company -- for support of a senior volunteer workshop
- Eleanor Roosevelt Circle Resident Cooperative Council
of Davis Senior Housing Co-op, Inc. -- for a composting equipment for
their garden
- Fred T. Korematsu Parent Teacher Organization -- for their Social Justice garden
- Lavender Library Archives & Cultural Exchange -- for acquisition of new materials
- Rancho Yolo Community Association -- for communications about cooperative ownership of their park
- Yolo Family Service Agency -- for support of mental health services to low-income families

donations of $10,000 by the Co-op and Twin Pines. Other donations have
come from Co-op shoppers, and from members receiving patronage refunds.
